Hopkins is a cool, funky traditional fishing village with only about 1300 people. The Garinagu (often called Garifuna after their language) are very friendly with a rich culture including drumming, dancing, music and their own language. Hopkins is safe and has several small local bars and restaurants serving delicious Belizean fare. If you prefer to get away from it all with more access to pristine nature and less people then Hopkins is the best for you.
