If you're looking for adventure and the undiscovered then you will wish to experience El Pescador, Punta Gorda, Belize! Our Nature Preserve at El Pescador Punta Gorda is host to numerous nature and cultural adventures including nature trails, a river and two streams, foothills and mountains, abundant birds, colorful butterflies and exotic wildlife, old-growth Rainforest and a Mayan burial site.

We are located in the undiscovered paradise of the Toledo District in southern Belize. While we offer an elegant Rainforest experience in a secluded region, we are conveniently located 1 hour by air from Belize City and five miles by road north of Punta Gorda Town.

Our family-run resort encompasses 470 acres nestled in coastal mountains and Rainforest along 1.5 miles of the Rio Grande, offering world-class birding, hiking, and Mayan exploration. The clear blue river offers fabulous canoeing, swift and easy access to the Flats and Cayes of the Caribbean Sea 20 minutes downstream. El Pescador, Punta Gorda, is recognized as a world class angling destination. Due to our proximity to the marine areas of Punta Icacos, Wild Cane Cayes, Snake Caye, Punta Negra and the hundreds of tiny islands which encompass we are also able to snorkel and explore numerous other areas for Manatee, birds and a wide variety of flora and fauna.

The main lodge is positioned at the summit of "Big Hill" for which the original farm was named. It features a reception area, restaurant, bar, reading room, fly shop, gift shop, conference room and sprawling verandas on 2 levels.

Our panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and Rainforest canopy are awe-inspiring. It is the perfect place to enjoy stories of adventure while sipping fresh fruit drinks at our mountain-top bar and restaurant. High above the jungle while resting comfortably at the Lodge, one can look east and see Honduras and Guatemala across the Caribbean Sea or turn westward to the majestic Maya Mountains of Belize

El Pescador, Punta Gorda a world-class adventure resort, offers fine accommodations with 12 magnificently appointed individual cabanas terraced above a jungle hillside atop the Rio Grande.

Each generous cabana is furnished with two queen size beds, a sitting area including a day bed, private bath with hand made ceramic tile, luggage storage and rod holders. All areas of the hotel have potable water at every tap! Your cabana is equipped with all the amenities including air-conditioning. However, the cool river valley evenings and ceiling fans will keep you comfortable most of the year. Each cabana comes with its own private veranda overlooking the brilliant vistas of vast jungle reserves and the wildlife corridor.

The Large Arbor Restaurant located in the main lodge offers a balanced mixture of fresh, local seafood and Continental cuisine. In the El Pescador tradition management will host family style dinner. Sprawling verandas on all levels offer panoramic views of the Maya Mountains, Caribbean Sea and the Rio Grande. Our Lounge is waiting with a refreshing beverage, game of cribbage or billiards match. You will also find our Fly and Tackle shop, you may supplement your gear and find those secret flies that work well in our fishery. Our conference center, located in the main lodge, is equipped with wireless network for internet access

El Pescador, Punta Gorda offers a host of on-site activities for days when you choose to give the wilds a day off. We are happy to tailor numerous activities to suit your interests and needs. These options include canoeing, kayaking, hiking, birding, fishing, swimming in either our fresh water pool or the Rio Grande river or visiting our own Mayan burial ground.

We also offer an open-air tram that transports Guests from the main Lodge down Big Hill to the Rio Grande River below. You will be transported through the rain forest with the canopy above. On the way, you may see tropical birds such as toucans or parrots as well as our resident troop of howler monkeys!! At the bottom of the ride your Guide will await you for an exciting day of adventure. Guests may also enjoy use of our canoes. Come experience this unique amenity.
