About the Resort Portofino Beach Resort is located on a lovely stretch of white sandy beach on the north end of Ambergris Caye. Their service is rated first class. Portofino offers 8 beach cabanas with clear and unobstructed Caribbean views, along with 3 Tree Top suites that are on stilts. All accommodations offer air conditioning, ceiling fans, sea facing picture windows, mini bars, and individual interior decor and artwork. Each cabana offers a queen-size bed with a view through the front picture window of the beach. Each bed is draped with a pure linen mosquito net and pure cotton sheets. Floor rugs from Guatemala, and assorted decorations from Belize and Mexico.

VIP/Honeymoon Suite is full of special touches, including an Emperor bed, Jacuzzi, special bathroom and furnishing fit for a King. Room service is offered to every room.

Each Tree Top Suite is elevated 10 feet in the air on Sapodilla wood legs with a wide staircase made of local woods for entry. Each suite offers a queen-size bed in the center of the room and stunning views through the massive picture windows. Each suite has a full-length balcony offering great views of the Caribbean and sunrise, with hand carved deck chairs and hammocks.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1:  Arrive in Belize

You are personally greeted at the International Airport by a representative of Adventures in Belize. Your representative will direct you over to the local airline desk where you will board your flight to San Pedro. In San Pedro you will be personally greeted by someone from Portofino and then transferred by boat to the resort with is located about 5 miles up the coast from town. Tonight's dinner for two is at El Bistro. This excellent restaurant is the best spot for pier dining on the island. The restaurant offers French and Italian Cuisine and use the freshest local seafood, meats and produce available in Belize.

Day 2:  Full Day Snorkel at Mexico Rocks

Full Breakfast with fantastic view of the beach. The day begins with a full day Mexico Rocks snorkel tour, gear is included. Mexico Rocks is a snorkel site located about 20 minutes north of San Pedro and is a well known for it's cluster of coral heads called Mexico Rocks. This site is perfect for snorkeling with amazingly clear water and beautifully colored coral. Depth is from 6-12 feet. Lunch is included as a delicious Beach BBQ. Return to the resort, relax and enjoy the warm beach before preparing for Dinner which is on your own.

Day 3:  Explore the Island

Full breakfast at the resort. You have the day to yourself with a Golf Cart for all day island exploration. Take advantage of the $25 Gift Certificate from Orange Gift Shop in town. San Pedro was formerly a fishing village made up of mostly Spanish speaking inhabitants. San Pedro is the only town where you will find sand streets and no skyscrapers. In town, there are many restaurants, gift shops, and night clubs. Return to your resort and relax. Dinner tonight is on your own.

Day 4:  Full Day Tour to Bacalar Chico National Park

Full breakfast at the resort. Today's island adventure will be a Full Day tour to Bacalar Chico National Park. This site is located north of San Pedro and offers some snorkel stops, hiking through a narrow area of jungle until you get to the site called Rocky Point which is a world heritage site and where the reef meets the land. The tour includes a delicious BBQ lunch on the beach. Return to the resort in the afternoon. Relax and enjoy some free time. Dinner tonight is on your own.

Days 5:  Inland Tour to Altun Ha Ruins

Full breakfast at the resort. Your trip today will be to the mainland with the Altun Ha ruins tour. The tour begins with a boat ride to Belize City and then by van to the ruins site, which is located about 30 miles from Belize City. This site is one of the originally discovered ruins and also where the largest carved jade artifact in the Maya world was found. You then visit Maruba Resort and Jungle Spa for lunch (Lunch and Spa treatments are not included). Return back to San Pedro in the late afternoon. Relax a while. You have dinner reservations tonight at El Bistro.

Day 6:  Free time to relax

Full breakfast at the resort. Today you have a free day for yourselves... Room will be scented with candles, and a bottle of Champagne will be provided. Free use of kayaks and other water sports equipment. Tonight's dinner is by romantic candlelight in your room.

Day 7:  Relax or add another activity

Full breakfast at the resort. Free day for activities not included in this package. Local activities can be arranged on your own through the resort, or we can arrange additional tours or adventures for you as part of your package. Dinner tonight is on your own.

Day 8:  Departure

Full breakfast at the resort. Check out and return boat transfer to the San Pedro airport for your return flight to Belize City for another great Belize destination...
