Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Belize
You are personally greeted at the Belize International Airport by a representative of Adventures in
Belize. Your representative will direct you over to the local airline desk where you will board your
flight to Punta Gorda town. You will be met by a lodge personnel
who will supply ground transportation to the lodge, arriving in time
for cocktails and orientation before you dine in the softly lit ambience of the lodge's restaurant.
Day 2: Visit San Felipe - Spend the day with a local Belize Cocoa Producer
Full breakfast at the lodge. Today you will drive to San Felipe, a Kek'chi Maya village, to meet your
host for the day, Juan Cho, who is a trained tour guide as well as running his own organic cocoa plantations.
Juan sells his beans to the Toledo Cacao Growers Association with ships the beans to Green and Black in the
UK where they are used to produce their signature Mayan Gold chocolate bars, Belize's first fair-trade
product. You will be taken to visit the plantation on the banks of the Moho river where Juan will explain
his organic farming methods and the different seasonal husbandry jobs. Guests may help if they like in the
tasks of the day. You will then be taken on a trip in a dory, a local dugout canoe up the Moho towards Santa
Ana village before returning to Juan's home to share a cocoa drink with his family. Dinner at the lodge.
Day 3: Visit The Lubaantum Maya Ruins
Full breakfast at the lodge. Enjoy a guided tour to Lubaantun Mayan site where the famous Crystal Skull
was discovered in 1926, followed by visit to Rio Blanco National Park for lunch, explore the natural history
of the riverside, or swim beneath the waterfall. The day also includes an opportunity to visit the home of Mr.
Florencio Mes, a Mayan harp player who makes his own instruments and has also represented Belize in "world music"
festivals in Italy, Mexico and Malaysia. Return to the lodge late after noon to relax before dinner at the lodge.
Day 4: Belize Indigenous Training Institute - Talk with local "Bush Doctors"
Today starts with an early morning guided bird walk along the river bank and through the orchard and meadows
around the lodge, then your ready for a full breakfast. After breakfast, guests will be driven 10 miles to the
Belize Indigenous Training Institute. This aid-funded project established a plantation for local "bush doctors"
to grow many of the most important medicinal plants. You will enjoy a tour of the plantation and learn about the
Mayan approach to medicine from a spiritual healer. After lunch back at the lodge, guests may kayak, go for a
guided dory trip, float around the lodge's river peninsula on inner tubes or take a bike tour of Big Falls village.

Day 5: Departure
Full breakfast and an opportunity to have a last walk around the lodge or dip in the pool. If your flight
departure from Punta Gorda allows, we will drop your luggage off at the air terminal and then leave you on
Front Street to explore Punta Gorda and its market (Saturday, Monday, Wednesday & Friday) before boarding
your onward flight to you next destination in Belize.
