About the Resort Adventures in Belize: Book This Trip

Glovers Reef is the smallest of three coral Atolls in Belize. Declared a Heritage Site by the United Nations and a National Protected Area by the Government of Belize, Glover's Reef Atoll is located some 35 miles south east of Dangriga Town. It is made up of about five atoll islands, one of them being the family-owned island of Southwest Caye, home to Isla Marisol Resort. The island is surrounded by glorious jade colored, crystal clear sea, with the lagoon on the western side and the reef on the eastern side.

Isla Marisol has cabanas on the while sand overlooking the reef or creek. Their accommodations feature a well designed cabana for two people sharing with a porch and hammock area. Charming and rustic, each cabana includes double beds, a private bathroom, hot and cold water and daily housekeeping service. The rooms do not have air conditioning.

Guests have the advantage of diving, snorkeling and fishing right off the beach. The kitchen and dining room is on the beachfront and serves some of the best seafood feasts anywhere in Belize. The catch is always fresh and the cook caters to the guests' cooking requests for their catch (some fishing is included in the dive packages). Fresh fruits and vegetables are always on hand and the meals are very tasty. The bar is located over the water and is the place to be in the evenings after diving all day. Cold drinks are served at the bar and you can relax on the deck with music in the background.

Please Note: Packages for Isla Marisol include boat transfers both to and from the resort on Glovers Reef. Due to the distance from the mainland and duration of the boat ride, transfers are set for Wednesdays and Saturdays only, therefore packages must begin on either one of these days.

Suggested Itinerary

Note: This Day to Day itinerary is only a suggestion. Daily changes can be made depending on the time of year you visit. Additional activities can be added upon request.

Day 1:  Arrive in Belize

You are personally greeted at the International Airport by a representative of Adventures in Belize. Your representative will direct you over to the local airline desk where you will board your flight to Dangriga. In Dangriga, you will be personally greeted by someone from Isla Marisol resort and taken from there to the resort dock at the Tackle Stop Marina in town. The boat transfer takes about an hour and a half. At the island you will be welcomed and taken to your beach cabana. You can relax in your room or have welcome drinks at the bar over the water. Dinner that evening. Your stay included unlimited snorkeling and kayaking off the beach on your own.

Days 2:  Full Day Kayak and Snorkel

Full breakfast at the resort. The cuisine at Isla Marisol Resort is said to be some of the best in Belize! Your first day of kayaking will begin with you and your guide discussing the different islands and sites that you will be visiting. Your day will include a kayaking tour of the lagoon and a snorkel stop. Hot lunch at the resort. Guided snorkeling tour in the mid afternoon. Relax and prepare for. The evening meal is served to you in the restaurant -- perhaps seasonal conch, lobster, chicken or pork.

Days 3:  Full Day Kayak to Long Caye

Full breakfast at the resort. Your guide will take you on a Full Day kayaking tour to Long Caye. Eat your lunch on small sand bars on the reef crest. Paddle out to a nearby patch reef and start to explore some of the 700 sites that the Atoll has to offer. Glovers is one of only four atolls in the Caribbean Sea, and is truly the most spectacular marine environment in Belize. Due to its isolation from the mainland, the waters are exceptionally clear with inspiring scenery and a fabulously rich reef system that offers the best kayaking, snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean. You return to the resort in the late afternoon. Relax at the bar or snorkel right off the beach before dinner. Relaxing with a soda or a Belizean beer in the bar is one way of spending early evenings with friends or new acquaintances.

Days 4:  Half Day Snorkel and Half Day Kayak to Middle Caye

Full breakfast at the resort. Today your guide will take you on a snorkel tour to one of the great sites near the island. The sheltered lagoon at Glover's Reef harbors one of the world's most divers sea environments; an extensive community of fish, shellfish, and patch reefs. Your return to the island for lunch. If you feel up to it, you can have a guided kayaking tour to Middle Caye (half day). This is where the marine stations and Fisheries Department are located. The park ranger is stationed here to ensure the park is preserved and all rights are guarded. You can make a snorkel stop at one of the reef patches along the way. On the western side of the Caye, the coral shelf drops away, passing over colonies of garden eels. Return to the island in time to relax, and have that well earned cold beer and delicious dinner.

Days 5:  Half Day Snorkel and Half Day Kayak

Full breakfast at the resort. Your first guided snorkel tour for the day may be to the lagoon area. While exploring and snorkeling the atoll and the many patch reefs, these are opportunities to see grouper, bonefish, angel and parrot fish, stingrays, eagle rays, conger, moray eels, goatfish, just to name a few. Return to the island for lunch. Take a guided kayak tour to a different area of the atoll in the afternoon. Snorkel on the beach in the early evening and relax at the bar for that cool margarita with a tropical twist. Dinner tonight may just be a seafood feast!

Days 6:  Morning Snorkel and Afternoon Kayak the Barrier Reef

Take an early morning snorkel before breakfast! Guided kayak tour this morning after breakfast. Around the atoll and the barrier reef, there are nesting sites for loggerhead, green and hawksbill turtles. If we're lucky, we may see them while out snorkeling or kayaking. Lunch is at the island. Relax for the rest of the afternoon. If you would like to try fishing in the creek by the dive shop you are more than welcome! Dinner on the island.

Days 7:  Full Day Snorkel or Kayak

Full breakfast at the resort. Your snorkeling and kayaking today will be spectacular! Because of the atoll's protected status, you will be amazed by the abundant marine life - grouper, moray, colorful queen trigger fish and large parrot fish abound. Majestic manta rays are frequently seen; enjoy encounters with dolphins, eagle rays and sea turtles. Enjoy the pristine beauty before you return to the island in time for lunch. Snorkel off the beach this afternoon. Dinner this evening at the restaurant.

Day 8:  Departure

Full breakfast at the resort. Check out and boat transfer back to Dangriga, then take a local flight back to Belize City for your next Belize destination...
