Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Belize City, Belize - Caves Branch Jungle
Lodge
Meet and greet by an Adventure in Belize Representative at the Phillip Goldson International Airport.
Your stay at Caves Branch will be in a Jungle Cabana which is thatched in the style of the Mayas.
The cabanas are completely screened to provide a bug free environment; furnished with a double bed,
a bunk bed, flush toilet and wash hand basin, deck chair and a hammock on the semi wrap around veranda
for you to relax after a rewarding day of bird watching. The jungle showers are located just outside
of the cabanas and are shrouded in leaves.
After a short orientation and welcome drinks, check into your jungle cabana and settle in for the
rest of the day.
Day 2: River Cave Expedition at Caves Branch (Cave Tubing and Cave Exploration)
After a healthy buffet style breakfast at Caves Branch Jungle Lodge, you will embark on a 15minute
drive on our jungle buses to the caves branch river where you will tube along for 100 feet to the entrance
of the cave system. Your underground expedition takes you off the beaten path to explore this incredible
river cave system where ancient Maya Ceremonial centers, pottery, artifacts, altars, obsidian bloodletting
blades, jade and the actual footprints of the Shaman and priests dated to 400 A.D. are still seen.
Imagine the experience as you float through an underground cathedral, turning your lights off and floating
away into time as your professional guide eludes you with the history of the caves and the Mayan world.
Day 3: at Caves Branch (Rappelling 300ft into a collapsed sinkhole)
It's now tried and tested and the results... SPECTACULAR, INCREDIBLE, A RUSH LIKE NO OTHER!!!
The “Mother of all Caves”… Actun Loch Tunich! This expedition starts off with a vigorous hike into the
foothills of the Maya Mountains for approximately one hour and a half. Along the way adequate stops will
be made for rest, or to view the local flora and fauna. The edge of the Actun Loch Tunich sink hole sits
over 300 feet above the basin below, 200 feet above the rainforest canopy that grows out from the sink
whole basin. The first 10 feet provides the adrenaline, the next 200 feet provides an unforgettable
experience and sights to behold, and the last 100 feet takes you down through the rainforest canopy.
The sink hole is not actually black, but you can't see the bottom from the starting point. Once you're
at the bottom, the question is... How do we get you out???
Then a return hike out of the foothills and a well deserved cold beer at camp.
The Black Hole Drop is one of Caves Branch signature tours.
Day 4: Day of Leisure and Rest (or options listed below)
After an intense day of hiking in the jungle and rappelling 300ft you might want to take it easy and
do nothing. Hence, on your fourth day at Caves Branch feel free to relax and enjoy the many amenities
available at Caves Branch Jungle lodge and just take it easy for that day.
Another option would be to spend the day relaxing newly constructed, two level pool; which is completed
with two waterfalls, an over pass, a swim up bar, a Jacuzzi and overlooking the Caves Branch river below.
Or spend some time with the head gardener at Caves Branch Jungle Lodge as you learn and tour the exotic
Botanical Orchid and Bromeliad gardens. The environment in the botanical garden is the perfect place to
relax and indulge as you watch turtles come up on logs in the pond; the sounds of the waterfall within the
botanical garden and the chirping of various birds within the grounds.
Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, leave Caves Branch en route to your next
destination or to the Phillip Goldson
International Airport
