About the Resort Adventures in Belize: Book This Trip

duPlooy's Jungle Lodge is a family owned business that began in 1988 when the owners found an isolated plot of farmland deep in the jungle of the Cayo area. With lots of hard work and dedication, the duPlooy family created what is today on of the most eco-friendly lodges in Belize.

Their visitors feel relaxed in their friendly surroundings. There are plenty of activities right on the premises - swimming in the waters of the Macal River, relaxing on the beautiful sandy beach, canoeing, horseback riding, or visiting the adjacent Belize Botanic Gardens. Bird watching can be done in a civilized fashion right from the duPlooy's deck, with its 200ft canopied walkway, to the bird blind in the Belize Botanical Gardens. Enjoy walking leisurely about the property, or go out on a guided hike. Off the property, you can choose from one of the many tours we offer. Not staying long enough may be your only regret.

duPlooy's offers a variety of rooms to suit everyone. Rooms have porches (which hammocks), hot water, ceiling fans and screened windows. Remember you can always cool off on our beautiful Macal River Beach or enjoy a cool drink in our canopy bar.

Suggested Itinerary

Note: This Day to Day itinerary is only a suggestion. Daily changes can be made depending on the time of year you visit. Additional activities can be added upon request.

Day 1:  Arrive in Belize
You are personally greeted at the International Airport by a representative of Adventures in Belize. Your representative will direct you to the Van used to transport you to duPlooy's Lodge. Transfer time is approximately 1.5 hours. A stop at the zoo or Xunantunich maya ruins can be arranged if time permits, entrance fees are included. Arrive at the lodge, and check in at the front desk. You are then shown to your accommodations, either a Bungalow or Jungle Lodge room. Dinner at the lodge that evening.

Day 2:  Maya Ruins or Cave Exploration
Buffet breakfast at the lodge. Full day tour of your choice of either Cahal Pech maya ruins, or visit one of the magnificent cave areas. You can choose any of these caves to visit - Actun Halal and Chapat, Checchemhah, Actun Tunichil Mucknal, Flour Camp, or Barton Creek Cave. Lunch is included. Dinner at the lodge.

Day 3:  Horseback Riding or Canoe Tour
Breakfast at the lodge. Horseback riding or guided canoe tour - you can take a ride exploring the country side, or check out some plants and slowly learn to pry your fingers off the saddle horn, or cross the river and take a ride through the sleepy village of Cristo Rey to the Cristo Rey Falls. This is a pretty, little spring, not a religious waterfall as the name would suggest, or yoiu can venture across the river towards the village of San Antonio. If you choose a canoe tour you can (what?). Lunch is provided. Dinner at the lodge.

Day 4:  Return to Lodge - Full Body Massage
Breakfast at the lodge. Massage for two at duPlooy's. You will need to go to the bar at the time of your massage and the masseuse will come and take you to the palapa. A sarong is the recommended attire but wear whatever is comfortable for you. Lunch and Dinner is at the lodge.

Day 5: Departure

Breakfast at the lodge.
Check out from the lodge. You will be transferred to your next exciting destination in Belize...
